St. Thomas sits close enough to Lake Erie that the weather does whatever it wants. Summer drags humidity inland and runs air conditioners hard for weeks at a stretch; winter funnels cold air off the lake and settles it over older housing stock whose walls and ductwork were never built for today's insulation standards.
